“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Marianne Williamson
I feel like in the past year I have really struggled with having the confidence to action my purpose. It’s like you pray and pray for something, God reveals it to you and then you’re like – Ooo naah I couldn’t do that, not me…really? You sure? Like God is going to turn around and say “Whoops, ma bad – that was suppose to be for Beatrice, let’s put that back in the tumbler cage and try again” because that’s what I imagined, like my purpose was pot luck and I was ready to gamble and draw another purpose out. Well, just in case you didn’t know, that’s not how it works. God doesn’t make mistakes, the problem that we face is that we may not be ready for what we have asked for and I definitely was not and still don’t feel ready for what God has asked me to do.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.
– Jeremiah 1:5
God knows us more than we know ourselves, its like you drawing a picture and it suddenly coming to life and telling you “ohh pahlease, you don’t know me”, actually “young picture”, not only do I know you, I drew you, coloured you in, planned you, dreamt of you, prepared for you and made sure I had the right equipment to make you and you “young picture” are mine. So with that being said, our purposes are uniquely ours. You might be thinking, “but V there are tons of Bloggers out there” and yes you’re completely right and that was my initial thoughts but guess what… there is not ONE person that has had the same journey as you – NOT ONE! Out of all the billions of people out there, we all have our own unique journeys and experiences. There are however, similarities in the battles that we face just at different points in our journey and some of us (me) will be called forward to share those experiences with others to let them know exactly what God did for them to get them out/ handle that situation.
and it’s scary! Oh so scary…but when I actually deep it, what i’m afraid of is it being a success, that it will actually work – which is nuts! This brings me back to the quote by Marianne Williamson – Our fear is that we are powerful beyond measure, that we will actually have an impact, that we will succeed in what God has asked us to do and because we can’t imagine it or see it and we are unfamiliar with that notion, we revert back – back into what we are comfortable with and with what we know. “Your playing small does not serve the world”…jheezz bars, tell um again! This hit home, when we don’t actually action our purpose we are doing more damage than good, to ourselves and those around us. That void that we all feel inside, that will fill with everything but God…it gets bigger and bigger and we feel it more and more, because we know what we need to do.
“As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
I love this and it couldn’t be more true. When we see others doing what we could do, be it blogging, singing, modelling, being an ambassador or standing up for a cause, it gives us the strength to do the same. Or even just hearing someone speak out about their experiences, assuring you that there is a way out, that you will not be branded for speaking your truth, it encourages you to do the same – which is how I have managed to combat all my doubts and fears because I trust that God will guide me and protect me through this unveiling and in turn I hope it will encourage you to do the same.
Love Always,
